NTT Disaster Message Service

Thank you for the many messages, it encourage us.

If want to contact the person who living earthquake occurring area in Japan, the following service reliable and helpful at the moment.
Because NTT (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation) telephone voice call connection is only working in the areas, especially Miyagi, Iwate areas etc, not yet recovered the data packet/mobile connection (no Internet, no skype, no data call). 

NTT Voice message (Dial no: 171)

1.Message recording from where ? (As of 12 Mar AM10 JST)

• Miyagi, Iwate, Fukushima, Yamagata, Ibaragi, Gunma, Tochigi, Saiotama, Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa (now these area higher priority)
• Other areas are lower priority

2.Message recording from what ?

• NTT public phone (currently free of charge), NTT land phone, NTT ins, NTT optical cable subscriber
• Other Carrir land phone who living above 1 place (ex. KDDI)

3. Message retrive from where/what ?

• From Japan, dial 171, any phones (mobile as well)    

4. No of recording message and duration

• 3 messages, 30 seconds per message

5. Holding message time

• 24 hours

6. Operation procedure

6.1 Recording message (DTMF, not dial phone)

• Dial 171 -> 1 -> enter your phone no (include telephone area code ex:019xx..xx, 022xx..xx, 03xx..xx, 042xx..xx, ) -> 1# -> Leave message-> 9# -> disconnect

6.2 Recording message (Dial phone, not DTMF)

• Dial 171 -> enter your phone no (include telephone area code ex:019xx..xx, 022xx..xx, 03xx..xx, 042xx..xx, ) -> Leave message-> disconnect

6.3 Retrieving message

• Dial 171 -> 2 -> enter you want contact phone no -> 1# -> listen message-> 9# -> disconnect
